SWILTS

What a day. What a day. WHAT A DAY!
Busy as can be! So we got up at 5:30 this morning to be out by 6:30. Then we jumped on the train routine! Today we took an hour and a half train out to Salisbury. It is much more country than the craziness of London and it was a fantastic change. We visited the Cathedral. It is the tallest cathedral in the country. It was built in about 1205 so it is incredibly old and incredibly medieval. We got a tour of the whole cathedral and then we even got a special tour behind the scenes! They took us up these tiny tiny stair cases up through the wood rafters above the ceiling domes and then we climbed more tiny wood staircases up to the spire. it was over 300 steps! Then we went out on a ledge right off the base of the spire way up above the roof! (Don't tell my mom ;)  ) But we had amazing views of Salisbury. So it was fun.
Then we headed off to Wilton House. This is the home of the Earl of Pembroke. (like the duke) It is currently being run by the 13th generation. It is pretty cool. We couldn't take any pictures in the house which was sad, but we did get to see the Double Cube Room (google it!) and there is a scene in Pride and Prejudice that is filmed in that room. I love that movie!!! We got to go into a ton of private rooms too. We got to go behind the private ropes and everything! So we got to see some pretty neat stuff that you wouldn't regularly get to see.
Then to STONEHENGE! That was so exciting! You see pictures of it all the time and then to see it in real life was just amazing. We got to just spend some time enjoying it and we got some awesome pictures too. So we shoved a lot into just one day! I am like dead now. I'd say its time for bed!
British quote of the day- "Riff raff" or "Peasants" (this is how they explain the poor people. I thought it was crazy that they still called them peasants!)
